‘Aurora’ Dressing Table and Mirror Set.
A beautiful example of a modern dressing table that has been transformed, by Elle-Bees by Lynne, into an exquisite, elegant and unique piece of furniture that will not be found anywhere else.
This piece was completely refurbished by hand, the process included an online vote to choose the design that was then applied to the sides and inner drawer of the furniture. The design, two ‘Turtle Doves’ a simple and peaceful design that tastefully enhances the style and character of this piece of artwork.
The surfaces of the dressing table (including not just the top visible surfaces, but also underneath and inside) including the mirror surround were first prepped and then primed. The clay mouldings and decorative flowers and foliage were then applied, prior to the whole piece receiving several coats of chalk furniture paint. Once dry the silver gilt was applied to highlight the tips of the delicate roses and leaves. Next, the hardware was cleaned, refurbished and brought back to life in keeping with the new look of the piece. The ‘Turtle Dove’ design was applied to the sides and inner drawer. Finally, the whole piece has been lacquered with several coats of Hemway lacquer in ‘satin’, to ensure the furniture is hardwearing and durable for many years to come. ‘Aurora’ has been upcycled with love to a very high standard by myself, but with this in mind, has had a previous life and you may find signs of wear because when I work on individual pieces of furniture I try to ensure I maintain their individualism and originality . Also there may be slight imperfections due to the nature of the individual craft being used during the refurbishment process which is completely carried out by hand. I believe both of these things to be features that add to the character and uniqueness of each piece I recreate.
